But why do we stuck with LMS ( learning management system ) ’s?.
Which one a student would choose from registering a borin LMS or using their own facebbok account?

Adobe® AIRTM (formerly known Apollo), is a cross-operating system runtime that allows you to develop
applications for desktop. Your existing development skills and knowledge on HTML,JS,FLASH will be
also working on AIR!
During past five years e-Learning courses stood on the Learning Management Systems and in the browser.
Plus some courses converted to offline versions using third party software like MDM Zinc.
With new trends of web 2.0 and e-Learning 2.0 , widgets and gadgets for e-Learning are raising their popularity on the ground
So it’s the time go outside the browser.

I am also planning to convert my old e-Learning course player to a transparent desktop appclication.

For Downes e-learning 2.0 has a clear focus on the community and social networking. He points to the impact of tools such as blogging, wikis and podcasts. These tools allow everyone to become publishers. Downes correctly recognised that “the model of e-learning as being a type of content, produced by publishers, organized and structured into courses, and consumed by students, is turned on its head.”

Upcoming forum at e-LearningGuild about modularity, and abstract e-learning content design. Here is some brief info about this forum:
As organizations put more and more content online, there is a greater need to repurpose or reuse some of this content for e-Learning. The application of LMS and LCMS systems, the need to develop e-Learning faster, the use of SMEs to build e-Learning, and the utilization of standards such as SCORM also contribute to the increasing need to design and develop modular and reusable e-Learning content.
Register for this two-day online event and look at the different ways to design and develop modular and reusable e-Learning content to meet different demands and limitations for various needs, budgets, and tools. Learn real-world examples from actual applications, talk about the theory and practice of different strategies for modular and reusable content development, and learn how to design and build content with different tools and technologies.
